How to Download Any TikTok: Videos, Sounds, Photos and Stories

Last updated:

Everything on TikTok comes down to one move: copy the link, paste it, download. What changes is which page you paste into, because a feed video, a sound, a photo slideshow and a 24-hour Story are different things under the hood. This is the map. It points you to the right tool for each job — clean no-watermark video, MP3 audio, slideshows, Stories — and to the deeper walkthroughs when you want them. If you have never copied a TikTok link, the copy-a-link guide is step zero.

  1. Copy the link. On any public TikTok, tap Share then Copy link (on desktop, copy the URL from the address bar).
  2. Paste it into the right page. Use the home page for video, or the MP3, slideshow or Stories page for those formats.
  3. Download. Pick the format button and the file saves straight to your device — no app, no signup.

The one method that works for everything

Every download starts the same way: get the link, paste it, save the file. TikTok makes the link easy to copy — tap Share then Copy link, or copy the URL from the address bar on desktop. The copy-a-link guide shows where that button sits on each platform and the two URL formats you might get. Once the link is on your clipboard, the only decision left is which page to paste it into, and that depends on what you want out of the post. Paste a standard video link on the home page and you’re done in seconds.

Standard videos — clean and in HD

For a normal feed video, the home downloader returns a clean MP4. Want the highest-quality variant TikTok stores? That’s the HD page. Want it with no bouncing username or logo? The no-watermark page — and the no-watermark guide spells out exactly what removing the overlay does and doesn’t touch. In practice these often return the same clean source file; pick the page whose wording matches your goal.

Just the sound (MP3)

If you only want the audio — a song, an original sound, a voice-over — extract it as an MP3 on the MP3 page rather than downloading the whole clip. The TikTok-to-MP3 guide covers the bitrate you can expect (around 128 kbps, matching the source) and the licensing basics.

Photos and slideshows

Photo-mode posts are carousels of real image files set to a sound, not videos. Save the whole set — every picture at full resolution plus the backing track — on the slideshow page, or a single image on the photo page. The photos and slideshows guide walks through both.

Stories — before they expire

A Story disappears 24 hours after it’s posted, so saving one is a race, not a quality choice. Use the Stories page while it’s still live; the Stories guide explains the one timing rule that decides whether a save is even possible.

Other tools

Beyond the core formats, Snagtik handles a few related jobs: pulling the original clip behind a stitch, saving a video without signing in or leaving a view, queuing several links with the batch tool, and reading a post’s comments. Each takes the same pasted link.

Quality, legality and the limits we won’t hide

Two honest points apply across every format. First, quality: TikTok tops out at 1080p, so there is no real 4K — the 4K myth and source-quality guides explain why, and you always get the genuine best the source holds, never an upscaled fake. Second, rights: whatever you save is the creator’s work. Personal, offline use is low-risk in most regions, but reposting or monetising without permission can infringe — see the legal framework and, if you do share, the creator-credit guide. Private posts can’t be downloaded at all, as the private-videos guide makes clear. For how the file types differ, the file-formats guide has the breakdown.

If something won’t download

Nearly every failure is one of a few things: a private or region-locked post, or a link copied from a profile instead of the post. The troubleshooting guide covers each case and the fix. When the link is public and points at a real post, any of the pages above resolves it in a second or two.

Frequently asked questions

What’s the easiest way to download a TikTok video?

Copy the video’s share link, paste it on the Snagtik home page, and pick the clean MP4. It works in any browser on iPhone, Android and desktop — no app or account.

Can I download TikTok without the watermark?

Yes. The source file Snagtik fetches has no bouncing username or logo. The no-watermark page and its guide cover exactly what is and isn’t removed.

Can I download the sound, photos or a Story instead of the video?

Yes — there’s a dedicated page for each: MP3 for audio, the slideshow page for photo carousels, and the Stories page for the 24-hour ephemeral format.

Is the highest quality 4K?

No. TikTok caps at 1080p, so HD is the real ceiling — any 4K claim is marketing. You always get the best quality the source actually has.

Is it free, and is anything stored?

Free with no signup. Only the public link is processed; the file is sent to your device and nothing is stored on our servers afterwards.

Can I download private TikToks?

No. Only public posts can be accessed — that’s a hard limit we won’t pretend around. The private-videos guide explains why.

Can I download the version WITH the watermark instead?

Yes — but you need no downloader for that: TikTok’s built-in Save button produces exactly that watermarked file whenever the creator allows saving. Web downloaders exist for the opposite case, the clean copy. A site advertising a ‘downloader with watermark’ as a feature is re-selling what the app does for free.

Does this work on a PC or laptop too?

Yes — arguably better than on a phone: copy the URL from the address bar, paste, done. The PC guide at snagtik.com/download-tiktok-on-pc/ covers Windows and Mac step by step, including where the files land.
